Crossing The Line

Crossing Over the Line of The Code Red Healthcare Impasse

Health and Justice.

We barely know the true meanings of these words any more. The political structures that house both of them cannot be trusted to deliver either health or justice. They are neither healthy nor just themselves. I do not want to use our precious time to badmouth and point fingers. What I really want to do, for my own health and yours, is to remedy what I see as a healthcare impasse.

This impasse is the product not only of systemic failures to impart compassionate, holistic, equitable and respectful healthcare services. It is also caused by the absence of direction and agency on the part of most people to actualize their own innate wisdom and capacity in regard to their health. This is understandable in light of how our brains and bodies have been colonized in this Age of Derangement, so accurately labeled by Amitav Ghosh. I am drawing a line now to end this complicity.

That line is lettered Regenerative Health for A Climate Changing World.

As an embryologist, I speak from my rigorous investigations into human development and the evolution of the nervous system. I know this to be true from a physiological perspective: We are built for resilience and buoyancy. There are wisdom traditions, time tested modalities and contemporary, clinically tested resources from neuroscience, psychoneuroimmunology and endocrinology that support resilience and buoyancy, even in the face of the inflammatory, traumatizing toxicity that surrounds us. The TARA Approach for the Resolution of Shock and Trauma is one of these. As Rumi says,

“We made the body. Cell by cell we made it.”

This is our Original Brilliance.

I believe in a groundswell of Regenerative Health.

I have created a structure for its implementation and delivery. I am speaking here and now to those called by their entelechy, from their hearts of service, from their somatic alignment with purpose, to become Regenerative Health Practitioners for a Climate Changing World. You know who you are. You can feel it in your bones. Your blood roils at healthcare injustice; the inequities that sacrifice babies, the elderly, the neurodiverse, pregnant women and marginalized, impoverished people everywhere. We see it now uncovered and exposed in this pandemic but that is the underscoring of long-standing health injustice.

I itemize the characteristics of Regenerative Health here. It is inspired by my own dream of health justice, but it is also inspired by Margaret Mead who said that civilization begins with compassionate healthcare. We need to begin civilization anew. That is what is being asked of us; to become civilized.

THE ESSENCE OF REGENERATIVE HEALTH IS

EMBEDDED IN THE MEANING OF CIVILIZATION

One day a student asked anthropologist Margaret Meade for the earliest sign of civilization in any given human culture.  He expected the answer to be a clay pot, or perhaps a fish hook or a grinding stone. Her answer surprised him.  She said she believed the earliest sign of civilization was “a healed femur”.  The femur is, of course, the thigh bone.  In a society based on hunting and gathering, a person with a fractured thigh bone would be unable to care for themselves and useless.  Meade explained that no healed femurs are found where the law of the jungle, the survival of the fittest, reigns.  Someone with a broken femur would simply be allowed to die. But a healed femur showed that someone cared.  Someone had to hunt and gather food for the injured person until his leg healed.  Someone had to provide care for the person who couldn’t care for himself. She said:

“the evidence of compassion was the first sign of true civilization.”

This is an invitation to a world of possibility. Regenerative Health for A Climate Changing World is my mother-grandmother-scientist-poet-embryologist-activist voice for our living earth. I invite you to join me in manifesting the active and joyous, comforting presence of Regenerative Health Practitioners in every community. I invite you to realize with me the accessibility of a Cultural Library of Regenerative Health Resources.

You can step across the line of the healthcare impasse onto the other side where we breakthrough to wholeness together. Join me at www.Tara-Approach.org.
