Women's History & CCC
When I first encountered Project Drawdown, I was lit on fire by the stunning awareness that empowering women and girls drew down carbon. Instantaneously, I set out to do my part. I was in New Zealand at the time, where some of the most creative and effective women in the Taranaki community, Maata Wharehoka and Puna Wano-Brynat, had assisted me in bringing Maori voices to CCC19. Now, I brought together Pakeha and Maori women in a series that culminated in each one of them stepping forward to manifest their destiny.
One of these women was Corryn Pryce- Baxter. Corryn's daughter Raehina attended the event where the women from the workshop made their empowering statements about how they were meeting climate crisis with their evolving consciousness. That was the beginning of a transformation for Raehina. From there she went on to apply for a scholarship (which she won) to the Green School where she could manifest her vision for protecting the sacred eels of her region, as well as becoming the unprecedented leader that was blooming inside of her.
This is the history of Climate Change & Consciousness and women's empowerment, traced for you during Women's History Month.
