Traditional & Ecological Practices From West Africa To You

“We are at the dawn of an exciting global community journey. We can transform our communities into bright constellations of hope through our interconnection. We are bright constellations for the world and for the Sahel in Africa.” ~ Dr. Ousmane Aly Pame

This is a two-session series on January 23rd and 30th from 10am - 12pm PST/ 6 - 8pm UTC0 (your time zone here). This series is facilitated by Dr. Ousmane Aly Pame.

The spectacular development of new technologies and mass media has not always been in favor of intercultural dialogue and cooperation. It has instead, through an overwhelming flow of disinformation and manipulation, fueled fierce political and economic rivalries and created also thick artificial walls of fear between continents, countries and communities.

Fear governs global relationships, economies, insurance companies, and security policies. It sells vaccines and weapons, justifies embargoes, conflicts or overexploitation of people and natural resources. The voices and wisdoms of grassroots communities are hardly audible in irrational age of unprecedented global ecological and socio economic crisis.

This workshop is a deep and interactive immersion into the traditions and ecological practices of West African communities and their applicability to all lives and landscapes. Participants will explore indigenous cultures, wisdoms and technologies of the region, current dynamics and challenges as well as new grassroots initiatives to reverse the degradation of the lands, cultures and economies of the region.

Workshop content weaves together indigenous cultural practices and beliefs, ecology, and contemporary social and environmental dynamics. Participants will explore:

  • Interactions between the invisible and visible worlds

  • Ceremonies and social dynamics

  • Community governance and conflict resolutions

  • Sacred relationship with trees and animals

  • Ecology and rituals

  • Economic solidarities

Registration is for both sessions of this event on January 23 & 30.

We are committed to our programs being accessible to all. If cost is a barrier to you,
